To all parents of little children:

To all parents of little children,

I noticed more then ever this holiday shopping season, you need to learn to control your children! Your philosophy of zero discipline does not work at all. If our son starts to act up (especially when we are out in public), we let him know that it’s not right and that he is being rude and disrespectful to other people. We may threaten him with a spanking, but for the most part getting down on our knees so we can look him in the eyes and making him look us in the eyes so we know he is hearing us seems to work. I’m not saying this works with all children, but you really should try something! Some kids just need a good old fashioned spanking (and so do some of the parents out there)…

It’s no wonder why the world is going down the shitter… Our parents taught us, their parents taught them even better and so on down the line… But for the most part it seems to me today’s parents don’t teach anything expect: cry a lot to get what you want and that everyone is a winner… Guess what, there are winners and losers all the time and you should teach this to your children!

If your child is running around screaming in a store you should:
a. let them carry on
b. tell then no and let them carry on
c. get in their face, tell them NO and if they still carry on, take them outside the store and discipline them in an appropriate way

NO! the answer is not A or B!!!

Sorry about this post, it just drove me nuts that so many parents let their kids act like little heathens… It shows no respect for your fellow man (or woman) and makes me believe the world is truly going to fall apart when these children are the ones in charge!!!

I wonder what California is doing wrong?

I wonder what California is doing wrong (That’s sarcasm if you didn’t realize)? With just about the highest taxes, unemployment and just about the worst in test scores, you would think that California would head in a new direction… But NOOOOOOOOOO, our legislator keeps heading down the same path they have been on.  Heading towards a disaster that we will never be able to recover from…

Maybe the silent majority needs to speak up and speak loud instead of complaining under their breath in the privacy of their homes…  If you have an employee working in your company and you catch them stealing, wouldn’t you fire them?  The California legislator is our employees, they are stealing from and lying to us… Shouldn’t we fire them???

Thank You, May I Have Another?

On Sunday, October 9th, 2011 California Governor Jerry Brown stuck another knife in the gut of Californian’s by signing AB 1236, the Employment Acceleration Act. This bill prohibits city, county and state governments from requiring private contractors to use E-Verify.  E-Verify is a voluntary internet based system under which an employer can verify and employee’s work authorization status.

Ten states this year have gone the other direction and require employers to use E-Verify: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia. There are Eighteen total states now that have an E-Verify requirement.

Why does California’s legislator keep taking us in the opposite direction as everyone else? We here in California have just about the highest taxes in the WORLD, the highest unemployment and close to last in education… They even mess with our gas to make it “Cleaner”, but I found here in California I get about 32 MPG, but in Arizona, I get 35 MPG…  So how does that make the environment cleaner, when I have to fill up more often?

Governor Gray Davis was kicked out for giving illegal aliens driver licenses, but Jerry Brown has the Dream Act AB 131 and now AB 1236 and I’m sure many other’s I haven’t heard about yet…  How did we get from not taking any crap to bending over and saying “Thank you, may I have another” in just a few years?

Halloween Is Almost Here And So Are The Myths

I have heard many times that poisoned candy or razor blades in apples is a myth…  So I did some research and guess what…  For the most part it’s a myth! The few times anything was found in candy, it was revealed that the victim was the culprit just looking for some media attention.

As far as I can find, there have been only two confirmed cases of children being killed by poisoned candy at Halloween and in both cases the children were intentionally killed by one of their parents. The first case ever case of this was in 1974 when Ronald Clark O’Bryan laced his sons Pixie Stix with cyanide so he could claim $20,000 in life insurance.

Many friends have argued about this with me over the years stating they “heard” or they “knew” about a case…  I’m sorry, but most it all seems to be a myth…

No child has been poisoned or seriously injured by Halloween candy received from strangers… Since 1959 there have been 80 cases of sharp objects found in food (not just Halloween candy) and about 75% of these were hoaxes.  Ten people had a minor injury and one got a couple stitches…

So, be safe out there and remember not to believe everything you hear…

If you know of a real, published in the news story that contradicts what I have found, please let me know…  I’m not talking about something you “Heard”, but a real story my friends…

Another Way To Save Some Green In California?

Dump most of CALTRANS (California Department of Transportation)…  Yes, get rid of most of CALTRANS and contract out ALL of the projects…  Just keep enough CALTRANS staff to administrate the work and write the checks, but the rest can go…

Without facts in front of me, it would be hard to say just how much could be saved, but my guess would be a lot and work would get done much faster I’m sure…

Private contractors could then hire most of the laid-off CALTRANS workers…  This would also save lots of money in future pension payouts…

Think about this…  If CALTRANS was no longer taking years to do a month long project, traffic would not be at a standstill every day, people could get home quicker, producing less greenhouse gasses and be able to spend more time with their families which may keep some kids off the streets and out of trouble and maybe even help them with their school work…  So by getting rid of CALTRANS, we could help save the environment, reduce crime and bring up test scores…

To All Legal/Native Californians

The California Dream Act (AB 131) has been signed by Governor Jerry Brown.  This so called “dream act” will trample on the dreams of many native and legalized citizens of California. Your children may be told one day in the near future ”We’re sorry, but you don’t qualify” when they apply for a grant to go to a California State college…

I could maybe understand this kind of a bill getting by when the economy is doing great and there is a surplus, but not now…  We are in a second great depression and need to take care of our own first, not last!

Californian’s should be offended by this.  What about OUR DREAMS, OUR CHILDREN’S DREAMS? This isn’t about race or color of your skin…  It’s about what’s right and what’s wrong and this bill is wrong…

California State Assemblyman Tim Donnelly is leading a fight to stop AB131…  If you have dreams for your child, PLEASE go to http://stopab131.com/ and help stop this bill…

How Much Money Is Wasted By Government Workers?

Just a thought…  How much money is wasted by government workers everyday?  I have not found an answer to this, but I bet it’s a lot of cash!

For example, how much money would be saved if government employees didn’t drive their government (tax bought) vehicles home every night? Do cops need to drive their police car or motorcycle home every night when they get off work? What would the savings in gas and maintenance be if the vehicle stayed in the motor pool and they took their own personal car home?

Some may argue that it’s for public safety, just by seeing the police car on the highway, people slow down…  True, but I have talked to a few cops over the years, and they just want to get home like the rest of us and do not do extra work once they punch out for the night…

What’s the point for School District employees to drive district cars and trucks home or other government workers for that matter?  There is none…

I would bet millions could be saved every year by city, county, state and even federal governments if they only used government vehicles for official government work…

Millions may not be much in the grand scheme of things when it comes to budgets, but the millions saved could go to a much better use I’m sure…

iWant

With the passing of Steve Jobs and the mind-set of the newest generation, I hearby delcair the newest generation should be called the iWant generation…

  • 2011 and beyond – iWant
  • 2000/2010-Present – New Silent Generation or Generation Z
  • 1980-2000 – Millennials or Generation Y
  • 1965-1979 – Generation X
  • 1946-1964 – Baby Boom
  • 1925-1945 – Silent Generation
  • 1900-1924 – G.I. Generation

Just my opinion, but who’s with me on this?!?

Getting Broadband To Rural Areas

Motorola node on a streetlight

Why is there not broadband everywhere?  I live in what you would call a “Rural” area…  About 7 miles from town on a dirt road in the middle of the desert…  My 3G cell connection drops from time to time and broadband internet is a joke…  Sure I can pay $80 a month for a satellite connection that’s a hair better then dialup, but really???

Several cell companies offer unlimited “My-Fi” for about $40 – $50 a month, but that’s only if you have a 4G connection, at 3G your limited to 5 GB of data a month…  Out where I live, there is no 4G yet, so watch a few Netflix movies and you’ll eat that 5 GB’s up in no time…

There is a technology called Wireless Mesh which kinda works like this:

  • You have a network of wireless nodes which do not need to have Ethernet wired to all them, they only need power.  Each node in the “Mesh” talks to each other to send packets of data back and forth. Only one node needs to be physically wired to a network connection like a DSL Internet modem…  These nodes can be spread out over many miles to offer a seamless network… The more nodes you have, the stronger the network.
  • To power each node, they only need be wired to a light pole, power pole, traffic light or so on.
  • At your home or business, you would have a router that wirelessly talks to the nearest nodes and in your home, you would still have your own private network.

This is the cheapest way to get broadband everywhere as we already have the infrastructure installed… No need to run more fiber, cable or Ethernet anywhere… Just hook each node up to power… Several cities have this type of network installed already.

There is another way to get broadband everywhere as well…  Power-line Broadband…  Basically they power company sends the broadband signal down the power line that’s already hooked up to your home or business…  You have a receiver/router at your end that in turn routes the signal out to your house or business…  And once again, cheap to setup and install…

So my gripe is why isn’t one or both of these installed everywhere?  Or why is it not in the works everywhere??? I want broadband at home, as I’m sure everyone in rural ares does as well!

Our State, County, City governments need to push this! If we complain loud enough, maybe they will hear us!

Jerry Brown Signed the 2nd Half of The Dream Act

California Governor Jerry Brown signed the 2nd half of the California Dream Act!  This will take $14.5 million of state money set aside for college grants and give it to illegal immigrants so they too can go to California colleges.

I’m all for college and education and I’m all for legal immigration, but now there are some U.S. born students who will not be able to go on to college in favor of undocumented immigrants…  How is this fair to to our children?

This is part of the new preferred class that has formed in California that I have mentioned before…  U.S. laws don’t seem to apply to them…  If I get pulled over by a cop, I’m getting a ticket…  If they get pulled over and have no license, insurance or registration, they are told “it’s OK, be careful and go on your way”…

I understand why people come here…  I have several Hispanic friends and even family… And I know they too want a piece of the dying American dream…  But if your going to come here, do it the right way!

A couple questions I have for our southern brothers and sisters… When you get here, why do you proudly display flags of your homeland as bumper stickers and refuse to learn and speak English???  If you want this new life, embrace this new life!  If you love your homeland and culture so much, why don’t you and your fellow countrymen stand up for yourselves and take your country back from the corrupt governments and drug lords?  Ask us for help. I bet the U.S. government would love to send special forces down there and take out all your problems…  Just ask…  Then you too could have a great nation…

Why does we have to bend over backwards for these people?  No other country in the world would do this for anyone!  As for California Governor Jerry Brown, how long before the re-call campaign starts?
